Welcome to Circuits, the FUSS Weekly Email Update! Here you can find information on the upcoming Sunday Service and the most current news, updates and events at the First Unitarian Society of Schenectady. August 31st There will be no service this week due to the Holiday Weekend. Sunday, September 7th Ingathering Sunday and Water Communion

We come together as one intergenerational community following a summer which I hope was restorative for each of you. We ask you to bring a small amount of water representative of your summer travel or experiences to join in our common vessel that symbolizes our unity as a community. We combine music and story along with our annual Water Communion.

| The Church office will be closed from Wednesday, August 27th thru Wednesday, September 3rd. Susan Stedge in the office will be on vacation. The September 1st, 5pm deadline for Circuits still applies! |
| A Finance Note |
| If you didn't receive a Quarterly Report on your pledging in July, it was because your pledge was paid in full leaving a zero balance due. This decision was made in the interest of saving on the cost for postage. Normal distribution will resume with the Quarterly Report that will be sent in October. |
| APC Would Like Your Suggestions! |
| The Adult Programs Council is currently planning a double-feature fall movie night, with a kid-friendly movie early in the evening, followed immediately by an adult movie. In addition, the APC is scheduling topics and speakers for Coffee, Cocoa, and Conversation. We would like your help in deciding which movies to show and which topics to have at CC&C. If you have any suggestions for movies or CC&C topics and speakers, please take a few seconds and share them with us by clicking HERE. |

Annual Potluck and Book Sharing Discussion!
Join us for an informal sharing of books you have enjoyed reading and recommend. Meet at the usual time (about 6 pm) in the dining room. No need for reservations, but bring your own table setting and a dish to share. Beverages will be provided. Questions? Call Judy Clough at 393-1876. |
| Women's Alliance Resumes 9/4 |
The Women's Alliance resumes its monthly luncheons on September 4th at noon. Plan to come for lunch and to hear Judy Farrell talk about the Amusement Park at Rexford. Please contact Barbara Horgen at abhorgen@aol.com if you haven't been contacted. For more info, refer to the full article coming out in the September Circles!

| If you have children ages Birth-3 and plan on utilizing the nursery during this year's services, please contact Cheri Hart at gentilcc@nycap.rr.com to register your child. The nursery will be open beginning Sunday, September 7th. |
| September 14th - RE Open House! |
| September 14th RE classes start with an RE Open House 9:30 am - 10:15 am in Waters House. Come for a light breakfast, check out the classrooms, meet the teachers, register your child or youth. Following the service we will have our traditional coffee hour at Waters House! |

Canaries in coal mines provided strong warnings of dangers. What are some of the uncommon canaries that, if we paid attention, could give us warnings of how our society behaves? Music: Polina DeCarlo, piano There will be not be a service Sunday, August 31st due to the Holiday weekend. |
| Social Action Council Collection |
| The Different Drummer Café is the recipient of the Social Action Collection this Sunday, August 24, 2008. The Different Drummer Café provides a safe environment, off base, where soldiers can meet, talk, and find resources that the military cannot provide. Your donation this Sunday will directly support the vital work of the Different Drummer and is tax deductible. For more info see www.differentdrummercafe.org |

| Ingathering Sunday and Water Communion |
| Sunday, September 7th we come together as one intergenerational community following a summer which I hope was restorative for each of you. We mingle the waters we have gathered from our summer adventures and celebrate all that our church community means to us. We combine music and story along with our annual Water Communion. Don't forget to bring a small amount of water from your summer. If you forgot to collect some at a meaningful place or time, bring some symbolic water anyway! |

The Different Drummer Cafe, a coffeehouse serving the soldiers,and their families, stationed at Ft Drum, is in need of a large coffee urn, mugs and other coffee supplies. Along with your generous donation on Sunday, August 24th, consider donating that old urn or some decorative mugs as well. Social Action Council will mail them to Different Drummer.
