YWCA Women's Shelter

For Mother's Day, women at the YWCA shelter received 50 gift bags of toiletries, candy and jewelry thanks to the generous donations from members of our congregation. SAC extends special thanks to Mia Gorla and her friends. We received a big bag of donations for the Mother's Day project from Mia - she asked her friends to bring items for this project to her birthday party. What a beautiful idea!

Fr Louie Vitale to Speak
Fr. Louie Vitale, (this generation's Fr. Dan Berrigan, but without the poetry and all of the handcuffs) will be speaking at Siena College on Tuesday, June 10 at 7 p.m.. His topic will be "Love Your Enemies: Transforming Us vs. Them Thinking" Cost is $10 per person, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds!

Fr. Louie, a co-founder of Bace e Bene Nonviolence Service, has been witnessing and speaking against social injustice for more than four decades. He was recently released from a five-month prison sentence for praying on the property at Ft. Huachuca in Arizona.

A Franciscan priest and 75 years old, he has participated in situation and peace actions where he knew physical danger and/or incarceration were possibilities because of the ethics and morals.

This event is sponsored (so far) by Siena College, St. Bridget's Church with more groups signing on. It is arranged by "Peace Works" of Saratoga Springs in conjunction with the Franciscan Brothers at Siena. Call Linda at (518) 584-0902 or e-mail at: linda@scolex.org

Donating Clothing And Household Items

Do you have seasonal clothing in good condition, or household goods (sheets, dishes, cookware, etc.) that you would like to donate to local, very needy people?

Martha Lebron, a resident of Steinmetz Homes, has a well-established program collecting clothing and household items and making them available to needy people in the community. Everything is free. Steinmetz Homes has provided her with a rent-free apartment to use for the project. Either:

1. Call Ms. Lebron. Call her and arrange a time to leave them with her (home - 377-7832; cell - 598-6302).

2. Leave items in the collection box at the Social Action table at the back of the Great Hall.
Important:
1. Only SUMMER clothing now.
2. Only items in GOOD CONDITION.

If you have furniture to donate, call Ms. Lebron. She will arrange for the pickup and delivery. (Information Lisa Angle 370-3582.)
