Afternoon Women's Alliance Takes Virtual Trip Around the World June 5
Don't forget to bring your own lunch to the Thursday, June 5 Alliance Meeting.
Coffee and dessert will be provided.
Millie Gittinger will show slides of her four-month cruise trip around the world.
This would be a good time to invite a friend and introduce her to the Alliance.
EBWA June 26th: Picnic and Tour
Our meeting on June 26 will feature a tour of Paul Schaefer’s house, now the home of Center for the Association for the Protection of the Adirondacks and the Adirondack Research Library. Paul Schaefer was a self-made architect and builder with a passion for the Adirondacks. He worked tirelessly to protect the area and helped found the association to continue those efforts. The tour will be lead by Betty Dietz, who has been involved with the association from its earliest stages and currently is chair of the Adirondack Research Library, an arm of the group. She will give a historical perspective of the AFPA, illustrated by anecdotes drawn from her membership and friendships, as well as talk about the current focus.
We will meet at the center at 897 St. David’s Lane, Niskayuna. Picnic fare will be served by Judy Clough, Nancy Tobiessen, Jean Aceto, Beth Ares and Barbara McLaughlin at the usual hour of 6:15. To make reservations for the supper, call Gabrielle Reals at 382-5685 by 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 24 or e-mail her at ellegr.1@juno.com no later than Monday, June 23. Gabrielle now acknowledges all e-mailed reservations. If you do not receive a response from her, call her at 382-5685 by the Tuesday deadline to be sure you are on the reservation list. The charge for the meal is $10. If you miss the reservation deadline and bring your own supper, or come just for the program, the charge is $2.
Parking at the center is limited to approximately 12 cars, so car-pooling is encouraged. Additional parking is available on Vrooman Ave, not St. David’s Lane. The Reist Nature Preserve can be accessed from the site for those who would like to enjoy a pre-supper walk and look at wild flowers.
