If change is the mantra of the year, then FUSS is right in keeping with the spirit of the times. This has certainly been a year of change and challenge for the treasurer and the Finance Committee. We’ve changed to new financial software and outsourced the bookkeeping function. We’ve had a new treasurer, two new Finance Committee chairs, and four bookkeepers, all in the space of twelve months.
At this writing, it appears reasonably certain that if all outstanding pledge balances are paid, FUSS will finish the fiscal year on June 30 in the black and with a respectable fund balance. It will greatly assist the treasurer if those pledge payments are made by June 20, so that the books can be closed for the 2007-2008 fiscal year in a reasonable time interval thereafter. There will be a final quarterly report of contributions mailed shortly after July 1.
On July 1 there will be a new Treasurer for the coming year; Val Catlin was elected to that office by the congregation at the May 18 Annual Meeting. It has been a challenging experience to have served you during this exciting year. That’s the wonderful thing about serving an organization; the people you meet or come to know better, and the new knowledge and skills one obtains. Many people, too numerous to name, have made it so for me and I thank them. I’m especially indebted to Bob Ringlee whose availability, patience, and forbearance has been extremely helpful in keeping me and the Bookkeepers on course through several difficult intervals.
