UU WEEKEND AT SILVER BAY
October 17-19, 2008
(Friday evening through Sunday afternoon)
Silver Bay is:
- An opportunity to meet other UU members from across the Northeast;
- A chance to participate in fun activities (or no activities at all);
- Open to all UU members, their families and their friends.
What are we talking about when we say Silver Bay?
This year's weekend includes a narrated boat tour of upper Lake George (on Saturday afternoon). We are also expanding our offerings for children of all ages (yes, this weekend is suitable for the entire family). As in previous years, there will be optional workshops, lectures, and a Sunday morning worship service. Other activities include inspirational talks, walks in the woods to check out the autumn foliage, musical entertainment, social events, and the annual talent show. Or, you can just take a nap!
Silver Bay is a 600-acre YMCA retreat and conference center that includes a historic inn, several cottages and a lodge, a theater, a children’s center, an athletic center, boats, playgrounds, tennis courts, a chapel, and the stunning location on Lake George. One can choose among the range of activities offered, or just relax and enjoy the autumn scenery.
The Details.
You will not be camping! Comfortable rooms are available in various buildings at prices ranging from $161 to $309 per adult ($102 to $167 per child ages 6 through 17; children who are 5 and under are free). Registration after September 21 is at a higher rate. Prices include meals; optional Friday night meals are available for those who plan to arrive between 5:30 PM and 8:15 PM ($9 per adult and $4.50 per child). Scholarships may be available for those who would benefit, and special accommodations are also available when you request it before Sept. 21.
